Sileo, Garriock Picked to CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 19, 2014) - LIU Post seniors
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) of the women's lacrosse team and
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) of the swimming team have recently been chosen to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large first-team.
Sileo was dubbed an Academic All-District member for the second time in her prolific career. The senior attacker finished her undergraduate career with a 3.68 grade-point average and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Furthermore, she received the LIU Post Roy Ilowit Award for her achievements in the classroom, and on the field.
Academic achievements aside, Sileo also had a dominant senior campaign for the Pioneers, as she earned East Coast Conference Player of the Year honors for a third-consecutive season. Additionally, the Wantagh, N.Y. native was named an IWLCA All-American, and received All-North Region first-team laurels.
Sileo paced the nation in points (144), assists (89) and assists per game (4.45). She became the all-time scoring leader across all divisions of women's lacrosse this year, and rounded out her career with an outstanding 564 total points scored (195 G, 369 A).
Meanwhile, Garriock completed her academics with a 3.92 GPA and a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Last season, she earned a CSCAA Scholar All-America mention, helping the green and gold to a GPA of 3.60, which was second-highest in Division II.
In the pool, the native of Duncan, British Columbia, Canada broke the school-record in the 200-yard breastroke at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Geneva, Ohio. She swam the third leg in the Pioneers' 200-yard medley relay and helped the green and gold finish 8th in that event. Garriock broke the school and pool records for her performance in the 400-yard individual medley against Sacred Heart on Nov. 2.
