Rotan, Sileo Added to 2014-15 U.S. National Team Tryout Pool

BALTIMORE, Md. (May 22, 2014) - U.S. Lacrosse has revealed the 88-player tryout pool for the 2014-15 United States Women's Lacrosse National Team, and two Pioneers were asked to participate.
 
Seniors Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) and Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) were the only two Division II players among the 88 chosen for the tryout. The three-day event will be held from June 13-15 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
 
Rotan, a two-time IWLCA First-Team All-American, was the 2013 Synapse Sports Midfielder of the Year after earning the Synapse Sports Division II Unsung Hero Award in 2012. The West Islip, N.Y. native amassed 164 points over her four-year career in a Pioneer uniform.
 
Sileo, a three-time IWLCA First-Team All-American, paced the nation in points (144), assists (89) and assists per game (4.45) during the 2014 campaign. She became the all-time scoring leader across all divisions of women's lacrosse this season, and rounded out her career with an outstanding 564 total points scored (195 goals, 369 assists).
 
After the three-day tryout, approximately 36-40 players will be selected to the 2014-15 U.S. Women's National Team, which will train as part of the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup in Surrey, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the United States as the team goes for a third-consecutive and eighth overall world title.

A total of 11 players from the squad that won gold at the 2013 FIL World Cup in Oshawa, Ontario return to try out, including All-World performers in attackers Katrina Dowd, Lindsey Munday and Katie Rowan, defender Amber Falcone and goalkeeper Devon Wills. Among other World Cup returners are attacker Danielle Etrasco, midfielders Sarah Bullard, Caitlyn McFadden, Kelly Rabil and Katie Schwarzmann, and defender Jenn Russell. Additionally, nine players from the gold-medal winning 2011 U.S. Women's Under-19 Team will look to earn a spot on the senior circuit.
