GRAND LAKE, Colo. (May 27, 2014) - On June 7, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team will be well-represented at the 2014 IWLCA North-South All-Star Game, as seniors
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.),
Melissa Rohr (Bethpage, N.Y.) and
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) have been chosen to participate.
The game will be held at 12:45 p.m. at Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. The Division II contest will be preceded by the Division I tilt at 11 a.m., and followed by the Division III showdown at 3 p.m.
LIU Post was the only school from the North side to land three players on the roster. On the South squad, Limestone led the way with three selections.
Sileo, the 2014 East Coast Conference Player of the Year, scored 59 goals and dished out 89 helpers for a 144-point output. Her assist and point totals were tops in Division II. The Wantagh, N.Y. product garnered IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team recognition for her efforts, while being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large first-team. She was tabbed as a nominee for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award as well.
In addition to the accolades won, Sileo became the NCAA's all-time leading scorer. On Apr. 2, she surpassed Division III record-holder Ashley Hansbury's 500-point mark to achieve the feat. Sileo finished her outstanding four-year career with 564 points (195 G, 369 A).
Rohr spearheaded the Pioneers' defensive unit, which limited the opposition to the third-fewest goals against in the country. She totaled 36 ground balls and caused eight turnovers in the process. The 2014 ECC Defensive Player of the Year, Rohr has also been picked to the IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team squads. Additionally, her achievements in the classroom helped her capture the ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor for women's lacrosse.
Rotan, an IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team choice, assisted Sileo in anchoring the offense, as she made a start in all 20 contests. The West Islip, N.Y. native collected 56 points (44 G, 12 A) in her final year in a Pioneer uniform, along with 45 ground balls, 43 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. Her 44 tallies ranked 64th amongst the nation's leading goal-scorers.
