Women's Lacrosse Slotted Third in Final 2014 IWLCA Poll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. (May 27, 2014) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team placed third in the final IWLCA Division II Poll of the 2014 season. The Pioneers, who finished at 18-2 overall, collected 188 votes in the tally.

Adelphi, which captured its sixth NCAA Division II National Championship, was the unanimous No. 1 with all 225 first-place nods. The Panthers sported a flawless 22-0 record on the year. Runner-up Lock Haven vaulted into second, racking up 209 votes.

Lindenwood (Mo.) came in at a close fourth with 186 votes, and Limestone (161 votes) rounded out the Top-5. New Haven (150 votes), Pfeiffer (111 votes) and Mercyhurst (106 votes) followed at No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 in the ledger.

LIU Post saw its campaign come to a close in an NCAA Division II National Semifinal clash versus Adelphi. The green and gold had seven different goal-scorers in the contest, but ultimately lost to the eventual national champion by a score of 17-10.

Individually, 10 Pioneers were named to the All-East Coast Conference Team, including senior attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.), who claimed her third-consecutive player of the year honor from the league. Fellow seniors Melissa Rohr (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) respectively garnered co-defensive player and goalkeeper of the year accolades.

Sileo and Rohr, along with senior midfielder Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.), were also picked to the IWLCA All-America first-team. Meanwhile, Hannan and senior attacker/midfielder Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) got second-team nods.
