Seven Women's Lacrosse Players Dubbed ECAC All-Stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. (Jun. 2, 2014) - Last week, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team had seven players lauded as ECAC Division II All-Stars. Senior attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior defender Kali Maxwell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned first-team praise.

Sileo was the Pioneers' leading scorer in 2014, totaling a nation-best 144 points (55 G, 89 A). Her 89 assists were also tops in the country. As a result, the Wantagh, N.Y. native was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Year, in addition to claiming IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team recognition. Plus, Sileo was tabbed as a CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team selection and a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award.

Honors aside, Sileo, a two-time national champion, left it all out on the field in her four seasons in an LIU Post uniform. She finished her career with 195 goals and 369 helpers for 564 points, which ranks as the No. 1 all-time total in NCAA women's lacrosse history.

Maxwell was a mainstay on the defensive side of the field for Head Coach Meghan McNamara's (East Northport, N.Y.) squad. In 15 games, she amassed 42 draw controls, 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers, while helping the green and gold in limiting opponents to an average of 6.2 goals scored per game (third in Division II).

The Pioneers landed five athletes on the second-team, composed of all seniors. They were Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.)Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.)Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.), Melissa Rohr (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.).

The trio of Chiarenza, Losco and Rotan accompanied Sileo in leading the offensive charge for LIU Post. Chiarenza registered 31 goals and dished out 24 assists for a 55-point output, while Losco, an IWLCA All-America second-team pick, accumulated the 20th-most points in Division II with 82 (54 G, 28 A). She added 31 ground balls, 17 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers to her credit as well.

Rotan, who received IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team nods, bolstered the Pioneer midfield unit. Over the course of 20 games, the West Islip, N.Y. product tallied 44 goals and 12 assists for 56 points. Additionally, she racked up 45 ground balls and 43 draw controls, both of which listed her in the Top-10 statistically in the East Coast Conference.

Rohr, the 2014 ECC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, anchored the defensive blockade. She scooped up 36 ground balls and caused eight turnovers in 20 starts. For her efforts, Rohr was tabbed as an IWLCA All-Region and All-America first-team honoree.

Lastly, Hannan sported an 18-2 record between the pipes with 122 saves and a 6.16 goals-against average (third in NCAA). Furthermore, the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year and IWLCA All-American owned the second-best save percentage in Division II, boasting a .530 clip.
