Sileo Nominated For 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jul. 1, 2014) - LIU Post women's lacrosse senior standout
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) has recently been nominated for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. She was one of just four East Coast Conference student-athletes to be recognized.
Sileo started in all 20 games for the Pioneers this season. She led all of NCAA Division II in assists (89) and points (144), while helping her squad to an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals. The two-year team captain also scored the most goals (55) for the green and gold, two of which were game-winners, and picked up 21 ground balls in the process.
On Apr. 2, an eight-point showing against Dowling established the attacker as the all-time leading point-getter in NCAA women's lacrosse history. At the conclusion of a 14-9 win, Sileo had a career scoring total of 505 points. That number surpassed former record-holder and Division III leader Ashley Hansbury's 500-point mark.
Sileo's efforts earned her a third-consecutive East Coast Conference Player of the Year and IWLCA Attacker of the Year nod, along with a second-straight finalist vote for the Honda Division II Athlete of the Year Award. Furthermore, the Wantagh, N.Y. product was chosen to the IWLCA All-America and All-Region, CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District, and All-ECC first-team rosters.
Over her four-year playing career in Brookville, Sileo has been a four-time All-ECC, IWLCA All-America (three-time first-team honoree) and IWLCA All-Region selection. Plus, she holds the program's career and single-season records for assists and points.

In addition to excelling on the lacrosse field, Sileo participated in campus activities and numerous community service projects. She respectively served as a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society and Chi Sigma Iota Society in 2013 and 2014, while playing a part in the Island Harvest Food Drive, Relay For Life, Walk-Along For Lupus, Out of the Darkness Walk and Hurricane Sandy Relief initiative.
Sileo earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from LIU Post, and is currently pursuing her master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She boasts a 4.0 grade-point average in her graduate studies.
In all, a total of 456 female student-athletes were nominated for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, 75 of whom participated in Division II athletics.
To be eligible for consideration, the nominee must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in her primary sport by the end of the 2013-14 season, and received her undergraduate degree prior to the conclusion of the Summer 2014 term. Nominees must also have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The Top-30 honorees (10 from each division) will be honored, and the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year will be revealed at the annual ceremony in Indianapolis, Ind. on Oct. 19.
