Baseball Announces 2014 Recruiting Class
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 20, 2014) - On Wednesday, LIU Post Head Baseball Coach
Mike Gaffney (Westbury, N.Y.) revealed his recruiting class for the 2015 season.
Gaffney has added first baseman/outfielder
Louis Doria (Wantagh, N.Y.), outfielder/pitcher
Rob Andreoli (Wantagh, N.Y.) and pitcher
Robert Paccione (Commack, N.Y.).
Doria, a 2014 All-County selection for the Wantagh Warriors, is a power threat from the left side of the plate with good patience and the potential to hit in the middle of the order.
Andreoli is a strong two-way player with good speed and a solid bat from the left side. A shortstop in high school, he projects as an outfielder and has the potential to develop into a pitcher with good upside.
Paccione will see time on the mound for the Pioneers. The righty has good command of his curveball and keeps the ball low in the zone, producing a lot of ground balls. His fastball ranges from 85-88 on the radar gun.
"All three of these student-athletes are the type of players we look for when recruiting," Gaffney said. "Not only are they solid baseball players, but they are also top-notch athletes. Most importantly, they are the type of people that we want representing the LIU Post baseball program in the classroom and off the field."
The Pioneers finished the 2014 season with an 18-19 record, including an 11-13 clip in East Coast Conference play. For more information on the LIU Post baseball program, continue to visit LIUPostPioneers.com.
