Women's Swimming Dominates at ESU Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 31, 2015) - The LIU Post women's swimming team raced to 12 event wins, one NCAA qualifying standard and a Koehler Fieldhouse pool record in a dominant effort at the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Saturday.
The first event of the day saw the Pioneer "A" relay squad set a pool record in the 200-yard medley relay. Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom), Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany), Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, B.C., Canada) combined for a 1:47.95 finish in the feat, breaking the previous record, also held by LIU Post (Jones, Garriock, Kwok and Brazier), which was set in 2013.
Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) touched the pad first in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.68, while Johanna Pettersson (Kunglav, Sweden) and Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.) finished one-two in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.83 and 1:12.75, respectively.
The 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle saw two event wins for the green and gold, as Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden) completed the butterfly at 2:15.11 and Rademacher and Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) placed one-two in the freestyle at 1:57.04 and 1:59.81, respectively.
Pettersson won the 100-yard freestyle (55.47) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.25), whereas teammate Brazier secured second place in the breaststroke at 2:38.94. Brazier boasted her own event win in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:12.83, while Kwok, Bendfeldt and Rademacher also raced to individual event wins in the 200-yard backstroke, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. The 200-yard freestyle relay saw the LIU Post "A" and "B" relay squads place one-two, with the "A" team clocking an NCAA provisional qualifying time.
