BRONX, N.Y. (Oct. 9, 2015) - On Friday, the LIU Post cross country teams ran at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. The men came in ninth, while the women placed 10th at the meet.
Red-shirt junior
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) led the men's side, posting a 33rd-place run (27:45.3). Sophomore
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) clocked a 28:33.1, which was good for 52nd place in the 8k.
Red-shirt senior
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior
Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) added 81st- (29:32.7) and 83rd-place (29:39.7) showings, respectively.
For the women, sophomore
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) ran a 15th-place time of 19:39.9 to pace the green and gold. That mark ranks seventh-best all-time for a 5k at Van Cortlandt Park.
Senior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished 35th, crossing at 20:26.1. Sophomore
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) recorded a 73rd-place effort (21:38.4).
Head Coach
Pat Slevin and the Pioneers return to action next Saturday (Oct. 17), when they compete at the University at Albany Invitational at 11 a.m.
