Women's Swimming Drops Season-Opening Meet to CCSU, 129-96

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2015) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's swimming team lost its 2015-16 season-opening meet to Central Connecticut State University, 129-96, at the Pratt Natatorium.
Senior
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) picked up from where she left off, winning the 100- (56.58) and 200-yard butterfly (2:06.19) events, as well as the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.34).
Sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) bested her opposition in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.88, while placing second in both the 100-yard freestyle (54.30) and 100-yard backstroke (59.93).
Senior
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) posted a 53.60 in the 100-free, which was good for a first-place finish. She was also second
(59.93) in the 100-back and third
(25.24) in the 50-free.
Senior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) raced to a first-place 59.69 in the 100-yard backstroke. Plus, she joined Brazier, Kwok and Bendfeldt in clocking a top time of 1:37.66 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Freshman
Karis Fuller (London, England) won her first collegiate race with a 4:36.52 clocking in the 400-yard individual medley, and added a third-place finish (2:00.08) in the 200-yard freestyle.
Fellow freshman
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) came in second in the two long-distance events of the afternoon. She recorded a mark of 5:19.62 in the 500-free and a 10:53.98 in the 1,000-free.
Head Coach
Michael Travers and the Pioneers return to the pool next Saturday (Oct. 31), in a 1 p.m. dual meet at East Stroudsburg University.
