BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2015) - On Tuesday, the 17th-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team shut out East Coast Conference rival Dowling College, 1-0, at Golden Lions Field.
With the win, the Pioneers (8-1-1, 5-0 ECC) remain the only undefeated team in the ECC in league play and have now held their last three opponents scoreless.
The two squads played to a scoreless first half, with the LIU Post defense limiting Dowling (2-6, 2-2 ECC) to just three shots in the first 45 minutes.
Then, just over 10 minutes into the latter stanza, junior forward
Johann Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland) received a cross from sophomore back
Oliver Hollingsaeter (Ålesund, Norway) and sent a one-touch shot into the back of the net for the game's lone goal.
Junior keeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) made one save in both halves to earn his eighth win of the season and extend his scoreless streak to 196:23.
