PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 20, 2015) - On Friday, the LIU Post women's swimming team opened up competition at the three-day Frank Elm Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University, with eight NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times.
Seniors
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) each recorded NCAA "B" cuts in the preliminaries and finals of their respective events.
Kwok came in fourth in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a 2:04.72 in the prelims and a 2:04.80 in the finals.
Brazier touched the pad at a fifth-place time of 23.60 in the 50-free preliminaries, and followed that up with a seventh-place 23.86 in the "A" final. In the same event, Bendfeldt improved on a 23.89 in the prelims with a 23.71 in the "B" final, which was good for a third-place finish.
The Pioneers' two relay squads also swam to provisional marks. Brazier, Kwok, Bendfeldt and senior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) raced to a third-place 1:33.83 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Meanwhile, a similar group of Brazier, Kwok, Jones and freshman
Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) were eighth (3:50.64) in the 400-yard medley relay.
Freshman
Karis Fuller (London, England) placed sixth in the "B" final of the 200 IM, after clocking a 2:08.25. Fellow freshman
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) finished 24th (5:07.01) in the preliminaries of the 500-free. Jones put forth a 28th-place showing (24.25) in the 50-free prelims.

Michael Travers and his LIU Post squad return to the pool Saturday (Nov. 21), when they return to Piscataway for Day Two of the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers.
