KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 2, 2015) - Five members of the LIU Post men's soccer team have been tabbed as All-East Region honorees by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), it was announced Wednesday.
Sophomore back
David Arvidsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), senior midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) and junior forward
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) were named to the first-team. Junior goalkeeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) was a second-team selection, while senior midfielder
Matias Ruiz (Southampton, N.Y.) earned third-team praise.
All five players were key parts of the 2015 team that won the program's second-straight NCAA Division II East Region Championship, after knocking off Southern New Hampshire University, 5-4, in penalty kicks.
Arvidsson, an All-East Coast Conference first-team selection, anchored an LIU Post back line that gave up 24 goals in 21 total games.
Forgaard, the D2CCA East Region and ECC Offensive Player of the Year, led the Pioneers with 13 goals and 13 assists for a 39-point output. The senior ranked in the Top-20 in Division II in nearly every offensive category. He led the ECC in goals, points and shots (58), and was tied for sixth with two game-winners.
Lampkin, also an All-ECC first-team honoree, was second on the team with 23 points (seven goals, nine assists).
Malmstrom, the 2015 ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, compiled a 13-3-3 record between the pipes. He finished with six shutouts and ranked 43rd in Division II in goals-against average (1.04). Ruiz was third on the team with 21 points (seven goals, seven assists).
