SOMERS, Wis. (Dec. 8, 2015) - On Monday night, LIU Post senior
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) was recognized as the CollegeSwimming.com Metropolitan Conference Co-Swimmer of the Week.
Brazier raced to first-place finishes and three individual NCAA "B" cuts at the ECAC Winter Championships last weekend (Dec. 4-6). She clocked a 23.92 in the 50-yard freestyle, a 51.69 in the 100-free and a 1:52.21 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Brazier also swam a leg in four different relay events, all of which the Pioneers won. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, she was the anchor that led the green and gold to an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 1:36.01.
Two weeks ago, fellow senior
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) captured her third CollegeSwimming.com Metro Co-Swimmer of the Week honor, after a stunning performance at the Frank Elm Invitational (Nov. 20-22).
Kwok posted her first NCAA automatic qualifying time of 2015-16 in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the pad at 53.62. She also recorded "B" cuts in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.72) and 200-yard butterfly (2:00.43).
Furthermore, Kwok was part of four different relay teams that clocked NCAA provisional qualifying marks, led by a third-place time of 1:33.83 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Brazier, Kwok and the Pioneers are back in action after the New Year, when they host Siena College on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Pratt Natatorium at 1 p.m.
