Women's Lacrosse Remains Eighth in Latest IWLCA Poll
GRAND LAKE, Colo. (Mar. 16, 2015) - The LIU Post women's lacrosse team maintained its No. 8 overall position in the latest IWLCA Division II Poll, which was released on Monday.
The Pioneers are 3-2 on the season and split two contests in the previous week in Florida. The green and gold knocked off Bentley, 15-9, on Thursday (Mar. 12) before falling to New Haven on Saturday (Mar. 14) by a score of 9-6.
LIU Post slipped three places in the most recent Lacrosse Magazine poll, however. The Pioneers fell outside of the top-10, and currently hold the No. 11 spot on the Nike/LM Division II ballot.
Adelphi, Lock Haven and Lindenwood (Mo.) continued to hold the top three positions in both polls. The gap between the first two squads did decrease in the IWLCA standings, however, as Lock Haven received five first-place votes. The Bald Eagles had just one first-place nomination in the previous week's voting. New Haven rocketed up to fourth in both tallies, climbing four spots in the IWLCA ledger and five places in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine ballot, respectively. Le Moyne rounds out the top-five in the IWLCA poll despite taking a 16-7 loss against Lock Haven in the past week. Stonehill is the No. 5 team in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine listing, jumping six places from the No. 11 spot in last week's tally.
Limestone took the biggest hit in both polls this week, following their upset loss to Rollins on Saturday (Mar. 14). The Saints dropped five places in the IWLCA tally, falling from fifth to tenth overall. The squad lost eight places in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine ballot, dropping from the No. 4 position to the No. 12 ranking.
LIU Post will look to gain momentum with three consecutive home contests in the next nine days. First, the Pioneers will welcome last year's CACC champion, Philadelphia, to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Thursday (Mar. 19). The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
