BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 25, 2015) - On Wednesday, the No. 10/11 LIU Post women's lacrosse team won its third-straight game, knocking off 12th-ranked Saint Anselm, 11-3, in non-conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Holding a slight 2-1 lead nearly midway through the opening stanza, the Pioneers (6-2) ripped off a 7-2 run in the final 15:48 of the half to bring a 9-3 advantage into the break. Senior midfielder Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) struck for three goals in the burst. She finished with four points (3 G, 1 A) and four ground balls on the afternoon. Sophomore attacker Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.

In the latter 30-minute session, junior defender/midfielder Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomore attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.), who recorded a game-high five points (3 G, 2 A), each added a tally to cap the scoring.

LIU Post dominated on draws in the contest, winning 12-of-16 (75.0 percent), nine of which were corraled by sophomore midfielder Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.). It also doubled up Saint Anselm (3-3) in shots (25-11), and held a 21-15 edge in ground balls.

Defensively, Roche, in addition to scoring a goal, scooped up five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Senior defender Kali Maxwell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had two caused turnovers, as well.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Mar. 28), when they return to East Coast Conference play at Molloy. The opening draw is slated for 3 p.m. from Rockville Centre.
