Pierro, Kirk Receive ECC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2015) - On Monday, LIU Post women's lacrosse senior midfielder Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) and freshman cageminder Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were respectively named the East Coast Conference Player and Goalie of the Week.

Pierro, who earned ECC Player of the Week accolades back on Mar. 9, tallied a team-leading seven goals in a 2-0 week for the Pioneers. She led all players with four goals and won a game-high six draw controls in an 11-4 win over then-No. 16 Dowling last Wednesday (Apr. 8).

The Holbrook native followed up that performance with a five-point effort (3 G, 2 A) at UDC on Friday (Apr. 10). She also won four ground balls and caused two turnovers in the 20-2 rout.

Pierro currently leads the conference in 2015 in ground balls (37), while placing fifth in goals (37) and points (53). Additionally, her 16 assists and 33 draw controls rank seventh-best.

Meanwhile, Kirk has been tabbed as the league's top goaltender for a third-consecutive week. She boasted a 2-0 record in two starts, while compiling a 4.14 goals-against average and a .583 save percentage.

In her appearance against Dowling, Kirk made seven saves. She faced 15 total shots in the contest.

This season, Kirk ranks in the Top-5 in Division II in goals-against average (5.88) and save percentage (.538). Both clips are tops in the ECC, as well.

Pierro, Kirk and the Pioneers return to action Saturday (Apr. 18), in a Senior Day and East Coast Conference showdown with St. Thomas Aquinas at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. The opening draw is set for noon.
