Women's Lacrosse Remains Ninth in IWLCA Division II Poll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. (Apr. 20, 2015) - Despite reeling off nine consecutive wins, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team held still at No. 9 for the third-straight week in Monday's IWLCA Division II Top-20 Poll.

The Top-5 remained unchanged for the second time in as many weeks. Adelphi continued to occupy the No. 1 ranking, as the Panthers claimed 395 points and 16 first-place votes. Lock Haven earned the other four first-place votes to take second in the ledger. Le Moyne stood pat in third, while Lindenwood narrowly edged Florida Southern by three points for the No. 4 slot.

Mercyhurst and Stonehill were separated by two points, but flip-flopped at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. New Haven and LIU Post, which amassed 246 points, individually stayed eighth and ninth. Limestone rose one notch to 10th.

In the Lacrosse Magazine poll, the Pioneers, coming off a 13-5 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon, moved up one notch to 10th. Red-shirt sophomore attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) posted her second-highest scoring performance of the year in the win, racking up a game-best eight points (3 G, 5 A). She also scooped up a pair of ground balls in the effort.

Limestone was the only other institution to climb in the top-half of the tally. The Saints, who won decisively against Lees-McRae (22-3) and Pfeiffer (14-3) to close out the regular season, jumped to ninth.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad now begin a stretch of three contests in five days, starting Wednesday (Apr. 22) at No. 15/11 West Chester. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
