Baseball Drops Series Finale to STAC, 8-0
Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 6, 2015) - On Monday, the LIU Post baseball team lost the series finale to St. Thomas Aquinas, 8-0, at the LIU Post Baseball Field in Brookville.
The Pioneers (9-9, 7-5 ECC) struggled to get things going offensively, collecting just four hits and leaving a total of eight men on base.
Sophomore pitcher
Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y.) seemed in control early, shutting down the Spartans (13-7-1, 9-3 ECC) through the first three innings.
In the bottom of the third, freshman outfielder
Rob Andreoli (North Wantagh, N.Y.) led off with his first career hit, a double over the left fielder's head, but the Pioneers couldn't drive him in.
Then, in the fourth, St. Thomas Aquinas put two runners on and Giovani Dingcong hit a three-run homer to put the Spartans on the board.
The guests would add one more in the sixth and two in the eighth to come away with the series win.
Jagiello lasted 7.0 innings, allowing four earned runs, while walking five and striking out six. Junior
Dillon Burke (Plainview, N.Y.) threw two innings in relief and yielded four runs (two earned) on four hits.
