GRAND LAKE, Colo. (May 14, 2015) - Of the 48 Division II women's lacrosse players honored as IWLCA All-Americans on Thursday, five LIU Post Pioneers were commended for their stellar play on the field this season.

Red-shirt sophomore attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.), senior defender Emily Hanifan (Hicksville, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) were chosen as IWLCA All-America second-team members. Sophomore midfielder Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and senior defender Kali Maxwell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) collected Third-Team IWLCA All-America honors, as well.

Delaney, a first-team All-East Coast Conference and IWLCA All-North Region performer, completed a phenomenal comeback season after missing much of 2014 due to an injury. The red-shirt sophomore was an offensive juggernaut, scoring 34 goals and tallying a team-high 53 assists. Delaney led the ECC in assists and currently ranks sixth in that category among all Division II performers. She registered seven assists in the team's two victories over Molloy and Dowling to claim the ECC Championship. Her 87 points were tops on the team, second in the ECC and 12th in the nation, as well. She also accumulated an impressive .871 shots on goal percentage, a stat that was tops in the conference among players with 50 shots on goal or more.

Hanifan was named Co-ECC Defensive Player of the Year this season, along with earning IWLCA All-North Region first-team honors. The defender collected 27 ground balls and caused 17 turnovers this season. Meanwhile, Maxwell was a First-Team All-ECC performer and an IWLCA All-North Region second-team honoree, winning 30 draws, causing 19 turnovers and scooping up 30 ground balls. Additionally, both players achieved special milestones by scoring their first career collegiate goal in the team's 18-1 win against Queens on Apr. 26. Hanifan tacked on two more goals to her resume in an 18-5 ECC semifinal triumph over Molloy on Apr. 30.

Pierro was an All-ECC and IWLCA All-North Region first-team competitor, and became the team's most consistent performer on offense throughout the season. The senior midfielder was first on the team and third in the conference with 55 goals, while her 75 points ranked second on the Pioneers and third in the ECC as well. Pierro converted 50.0 percent (10-of-20) of her free-position attempts and also led the league in ground balls (50). She capped her career by being named the Most Outstanding Player of the East Coast Conference Tournament, scoring eight goals in wins over Molloy and Dowling to earn the award and lead the team to the ECC Championship. Highlighting her senior year, Pierro achieved hat tricks in 13 contests, and scored a season-high five goals in three games, including the conference semifinal victory against Molloy.

Bird earns her first IWLCA All-America nomination thanks in part to her dominance in the draw circle. The All-ECC and IWLCA All-North Region second-team member won a team-high and conference-best 83 draw controls on the season, and ranked in the Top-25 in the nation in draws per game (4.37). Bird also achieved a breakout offensive season, scoring 50 points (27 G, 23 A), which ranked fourth on the team. She scored 12 points in her final three contests of the year, and tallied a career-high eight points in the team's 20-11 win over Philadelphia on Mar. 19. Against the Rams, the sophomore posted her first career five-goal game, dished out three assists and won seven draws, while maintaining an .840 shots on goal percentage.
