MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Jul. 1, 2015) - On Wednesday morning, former LIU Post women's lacrosse standout
Kim Williams was appointed as Faculty Head Coach of the Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team.
Prior to her hiring at Wesleyan, Williams held the position of Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Richard Stockton College in Pomona, N.J. In two seasons (2014-15) with the Ospreys, she compiled a record of 20-11 and mentored the 2014 New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year.
"We are excited to have Kim lead our women's lacrosse program," said Wesleyan Director of Athletics Mike Whalen. "Her experience building a successful program at Stockton and as an assistant coach in the NESCAC have prepared her well for this role. Kim's track record as a student-athlete, assistant coach and head coach illustrate the excellence she strives for, both on and off the field. I look forward to working with Kim as a colleague and helping her achieve the goals for her program."
Williams appeared in 72 of 73 games for the Pioneers from 2007-10, making 55 starts. She helped the green and gold to an undefeated (17-0) national title-winning campaign in 2007, as well as a National Final and two National Semifinal appearances.
Williams also rounded out her collegiate career with 44 points (34 G, 10 A), including a 31-point output (25 G, 6 A) in 2010. That same year, she averaged the second-most caused turnovers (2.94) and 12th-most ground balls (3.44) in Division II.
Williams was a three-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America and All-East Coast Conference first-team selection. As a sophomore, she was named the IWLCA Defender of the Year. Then, in her senior season, Williams garnered ECC Player of the Year and WomensLacrosse.com Midfielder of the Year praise.
In addition to her on-field accolades, Williams was recognized for her academic success. She was selected as the ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008, and earned a nod to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Second Team in 2010.
