Wayne Harris (Jamaica, N.Y.) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.
In Saturday's 40-31 win over Assumption College, Harris recorded nine tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He also added a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal the game in the final minutes.
Harris is currently tied as the Pioneers' leader in tackles (17) and paces the NE-10 in sacks (2.5). Additionally, Harris is a member of a defensive unit that currently ranks fourth in the nation in defensive touchdowns (2.0) and sixth in total sacks (4.5).
Harris and the Pioneers now head into Manchester, N.H. on Saturday (Sept. 19) for a noon kickoff at NE-10 rival Saint Anselm College.
