BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2015) - LIU Post Director of Athletics and Recreation
Bryan Collins revealed Monday that
Carla Pennolino has been hired as the department's new Coordinator of Operations and Special Events.
Prior to assuming her current position, Pennolino spent one year as the Athletic Media Relations Graduate Assistant. In that capacity, she assisted in promoting the school's 22 NCAA Division II varsity programs, most notably, the Pioneers' field hockey program, which reached the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2014.
"We are pleased to have Carla as our Coordinator of Game-Day Operations and Special Events," stated Collins. "She has been with the instituion for the past year and has tremendous experience in both the game-day operations and sports information areas. Throughout her time here, she has proven up to task and continued to progress our game-day environment for our student-athletes and fans. She will be a success in grooming future students to be game operations personnel."
"I am excited for the new opportunity and looking forward to what lies ahead at LIU Post," Pennolino said.Pennolino is no stranger to collegiate athletics, as she was a four-year student-athlete for the softball team at Queens College. Pennolino, a 2013 All-East Coast Conference second-team selection, hit a career .255 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Upon graduation, she served as a Sports Information Assistant at Queens and the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), while also assisting with game-day operations and facility management at her alma mater.
Pennolino, who graduated from Queens in May 2013 with a bachelor's degree in English, is currently pursuing her master's in English Literature from LIU Post. She resides in Middle Village, N.Y.
