SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 22, 2016) - Tied 1-1 late in the second half, the No. 7 LIU Post field hockey team scored two goals in the final 6:02 of regulation to beat American International College, 3-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference bout Saturday at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
The Pioneers (11-3, 7-3 NE-10) broke the tie in the 64th minute, when junior midfielder
Alyssa Lopresti (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) put a shot past Yellow Jackets' (10-7, 6-5 NE-10) sophomore goaltender Taylor Rosa (Stroudsburg, Pa.) on a penalty corner.
Then, in the final minute, LIU Post struck again on a corner. Freshman midfielder
Arantxa Rosainz Caloca (Guadalajara, Mexico), who assisted on Lopresti's go-ahead goal, added an insurance tally at the 32-second mark.
Earlier in the game, Rosainz Caloca gave the green and gold a 1-0 halftime lead, after scoring off a pass from senior forward/midfielder
Melissa Quintanilla (Rome, N.Y.) in the 31st minute.
The Pioneers limited the Yellow Jackets to only two shots in the contest, one of which was on goal. They also held an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners.
