BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 29, 2016) 
- The LIU Post women's swimming team won 13 of 14 events Saturday to breeze to a 137-114 victory over East Stroudsburg University in its 2016 home opener at the Pratt Natatorium.

The Pioneers (1-1) also had two of their swimmers post NCAA "B" cuts in the process. Junior Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) individually won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle in qualifying times of 23.91 and 52.02. Sophomore Karis Fuller (London, England) swam to first-place times and provisional marks in the 500- (5:06.53) and 1,650-yard freestyle (17:24.15).

Sophomore Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, after touching the pad at 1:01.92 and 2:16.58, respectively. Meanwhile, sophomore Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) captured top billing in the 100- (1:09.36) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.55).

In her first home meet, freshman Tove Sparrman (Upplands Väsby, Sweden) clocked winning times in the 100-yard butterfly (59.36) and 200-yard freestyle (1:57.34). Fellow freshman Elizabeth Law (Chester Springs, Pa.) added a second-place finish of 2:26.44 in the 200-yard butterfly.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Fuller won the event in 2:12.22. Junior Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) followed in third with a time of 2:19.91.

Freshman Cassie St. Angelo (Wakefield, R.I.) swam to second-place showings in the 100- (1:03.83) and 200-back (2:18.73). Sophomore Brianna LiCausi (Howard Beach, N.Y.) was third in the 100-free (55.88) and 100-fly (1:05.92).

Head Coach Michael Travers and his LIU Post squad return to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 5), when they face University of Bridgeport at 1 p.m. at the Pratt Natatorium.
