BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-8, 25-19) against East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan College at the Pratt Recreation Center.
Senior middle hitter
Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) tallied a match-high 10 kills on a .529 attack percentage in the match. Sophomore outside hitter
Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) had eight kills on a .412 hitting clip. Junior outside/right-side hitter
Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) added eight kills, as well.
Leading 9-8 in the first set, the Pioneers (11-12, 4-6 ECC) scored six straight points to widen the gap to 15-9, forcing a Redhawks' (8-13, 5-6 ECC) timeout. The green and gold capitalized on three Roberts errors in the spurt, while McCullouch registered a kill and a block.
From there, LIU Post never relinquished its lead. Freshman setter
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) served three straight points and added a kill down the stretch to help the Pioneers earn a 25-21 opening-set win.
In the second set, the hosts hit at a season-best .577 mark, en route to capturing an impressive 25-6 victory. McCullouch and Londot each slammed down four kills in the game. Londot also provided two service aces.
The third set saw LIU Post jump out to a 12-6 advantage, behind three kills from sophomore middle/right-side hitter
Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.).
Though Roberts Wesleyan twice came within a single point, the Pioneers closed out the match on a 9-4 run to secure a 25-19 victory. McCullouch recorded two blocks in the burst. Londot and Strange contributed a kill apiece.

Amanda Ostapow and her LIU Post squad return to action Tuesday (Nov. 1), when they host ECC rival New York Institute of Technology at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
