Results - Day One

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 18, 2016)
- The LIU Post women's swimming team returned to the pool Friday for Day One of the Frank Elm Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Pioneers' quartet of junior Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany), sophomores Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) and Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) and freshman Tove Sparrman (Upplands Väsby, Sweden) raced to an eighth-place time of 1:35.68. That mark was also good for an NCAA "B" cut.

Sophomore Karis Fuller (London, England) won her heat and posted an NCAA-provisional 4:59.32 in the 500-yard freestyle. Meanwhile, Johnstone touched the pad at a season-best 2:10.26 in the 200-yard individual medley.

In the preliminaries, four different Pioneers clocked lifetime-bests in the 50-yard freestyle. Sparrman finished the sprint in 24.58. Kvarnemar made it to the wall in 24.79. Sophomore Brianna LiCausi (Howard Beach, N.Y.) swam a 25.15. Freshman Jessica Argelander (La Verne, Calif.) completed the race in 25.17.

Junior Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta) added a lifetime-best mark of 2:16.29 in the preliminaries of the 200 IM.

Head Coach Michael Travers and his LIU Post squad are back in action Saturday (Nov. 19) for Day Two of the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University in Piscataway.
