BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post men's soccer senior goalkeeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) was tabbed as the College Sports Information Directors of America Division II Academic All-American® of the Year.
Malmstrom is just the second Pioneer in program history to receive the distinguished honor. Former standout
Eivind Austboe garnered the award in back-to-back years (2013 & 2014).
Malmstrom, who carries a near-flawless 3.97 cumulative grade-point average in Finance, helped lead the green and gold to their first undefeated regular season since the team's inception.
He was named to the All-East Coast Conference and D2CCA All-East Region Second Team in 2016, after pacing the league in wins (16), shutouts (8), fewest goals allowed (11) and goals-against average (0.67).
Last year, Malmstrom was named the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, while earning All-ECC and ECAC All-Star first-team and NSCAA All-East Region second-team accolades.
Meanwhile, junior midfielder
Harry Pearse (London, England) landed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team. A 3.43 student in Psychology, Pearse led the ECC and ranked fifth in the nation in assists (14) this season. He was also selected to the All-ECC and D2CCA All-East Region First Team for his efforts.
