KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 1, 2016) - Sophomore midfielder
Charlie Ledula (London, England) of the LIU Post men's soccer team has earned a nod to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II All-America Second Team, it was announced Thursday.
Ledula led the Pioneers to an outstanding 2016 campaign, in which the team won its fourth East Coast Conference title in the last five years. The green and gold also completed their first unbeaten regular season in program history.
He was recognized as the ECC and D2CCA East Region and ECAC Division II Offensive Player of the Year, while pocketing All-ECC, NSCAA and D2CCA All-Region and ECAC All-Star first-team honors.
Ledula collected a league-leading 18 goals and 42 points this year. It was the highest single-season scoring outburst for a player in the ECC since former LIU Post standout
Eivind Austboe amassed 58 points in 2013.
Ledula tallied a goal in his first four matches of 2016, and found the scoresheet in 13 of the Pioneers' 16 regular-season contests. Additionally, he had a conference-best eight game-winners on the year, two of which came in overtime.
