NORFOLK, Va. (Dec. 21, 2016) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post women's swimming team made its 2016-17 debut in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR Division II Poll at No. 22.
Since earning votes in the previous tally on Nov. 16, the Pioneers finished second at the ECAC Championships, which ran from Dec. 2-4 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
Junior
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) was honored as the ECAC Swimmer of the Meet, after winning a pair of races and clocking three NCAA "B" cuts at the event. She swam to first-place times in the 50- (23.56) and 100-yard freestyle (51.21) and added a second-place finish of 56.45 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Drury and Wingate continued to occupy the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the ledger, earning 173 and 167 points, respectively. Nova Southeastern (159 points), Delta State (146 points) and Lindenwood (143 points) all moved up to round out the Top-5.

Michael Travers and his LIU Post squad return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they face Siena College in a dual meet at 1 p.m. in Loudonville, N.Y.
