SOMERS, Wis. (Dec. 6, 2016) - For the third time this season, LIU Post junior swimmer
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) has been recognized as the CollegeSwimming.com Metropolitan Conference Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Bendfeldt, who was named a CollegeSwimming.com Preseason All-American at the start of the season, previously received the honor on Nov. 8 and Nov. 22.
Last weekend, Bendfeldt was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the ECAC Championships, after collecting a pair of first-place finishes and recording three NCAA "B" cuts in the process.
She won the 50- (23.56) and 100-yard freestyle (51.21) and took second in the 100-yard backstroke (56.45). All three times made the cut as provisional marks for the NCAA Championships.
In addition, Bendfeldt swam a leg of the Pioneers' 200- and 400-yard medley relays, both of which came in first at respective times of 1:46.66 and 3:52.31.
Bendfeldt and her LIU Post side return to the pool after the New Year, when they face Siena College on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. in Loudonville, N.Y.
