BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 8, 2016) - On Thursday morning, the LIU Post Department of Athletics catapulted nine spots to No. 4 in the latest Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup rankings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
The Pioneers, who sat at No. 13 in the initial rankings on Nov. 25, increased their fall scoring total to 204 points, after the men's and women's soccer team's strong postseason pushes.
The LIU Post men's soccer team, which ranked as high as No. 1 in the national poll this season, received the top seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to their fourth-consecutive East Region final.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers' women's soccer team reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Championship for the third-straight year, following a decisive 3-0 victory against Caldwell.
The green and gold trailed only Grand Valley State (280 points), Colorado School of Mines (221 points) and Shippensburg (208.50) in the standings.
The Pioneers also towered over the East Region in the process. Stonehill (152 points) followed in 12th, while Adelphi placed 19th with 137 points.
