PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 20, 2016) - The LIU Post women's swimming team had another strong performance in the pool Saturday, racing to five first-place finishes and 12 NCAA qualifying marks on Day Two of the 2016 Metropolitan Conference Championships at the Rutgers University Aquatic Center.
Senior
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) broke her own school record in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a first-place and NCAA "A" cut time of 53.32. She also swam the third leg of the Pioneers' 200-yard medley relay, which won the event with a provisional 1:41.49.
Fellow senior
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and freshmen
Karis Fuller (London, England) and
Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) each won their respective races, and posted NCAA "B" cuts in the process.
Brazier had a lifetime-best 1:51.16 in the 200-yard freestyle. Fuller swam past her opposition in the 400 IM, touching the pad at 4:31.17. Johnstone was tops in the 100-breast at 1:05.25.
In the 100-yard backstroke, senior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) recorded a second-place time of 55.21. That mark was good for a personal record and an NCAA "B" cut.
Freshman
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) earned a third-place showing in the 200-free, clocking a lifetime-best 1:54.45. Sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) finished third in the 100-fly with a time of 57.15.
Sophomore
Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and freshman
Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) individually placed seventh in the 400 IM and 100-back. Tonn clocked a 4:47.31, while Kvarnemar made it to the wall in 1:00.31.
Lastly, in the 800-yard freestyle relay, the group of Swensen, Johnstone, Bendfeldt and Fuller came in second, racing to an NCAA provisional mark of 7:43.22.

Michael Travers and the Pioneers will look to hoist their fourth-consecutive Metropolitan Championship on Sunday (Feb. 21) at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.
