Women's Lacrosse Rises In IWLCA, Lacrosse Magazine Rankings

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 22, 2016) - Despite not having played a game yet, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team moved up in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and Lacrosse Magazine Division II polls, released Monday.

The Pioneers, who kick off the 2016 campaign on Mar. 1, rose to fifth in the IWLCA ledger, after collecting 315 points. They also climbed one spot to ninth in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings.

The top four teams held serve in both tallies. Adelphi University stood pat atop the poll, while Le Moyne College, Lindenwood University and University of New Haven followed in succession.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad will open the 2016 campaign next Tuesday at home against non-conference foe Nyack College at 3 p.m.
