NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2016) 
- The LIU Post women's swimming team competed Saturday at the New York University Invitational at the Palladium Athletic Facility.

Senior Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) highlighted the day for the Pioneers, as she recorded an NCAA "B" cut in the 100-yard butterfly. Kwok swam a 56.97 in the event, which was good for a first-place finish.

Senior Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and freshman Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) won the 100-yard backstroke and breaststroke, respectively. Brazier clocked a 59.50, while Johnstone finished at 1:07.57.

Senior Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) individually placed second (59.70) and third (1:01.01) in the 100-back and 100-fly. Freshman Karis Fuller (London, England) touched the pad at a second-place 4:39.78 in the 400-yard individual medley.

Freshmen Shannon de la Garza (Tijeras, N.M.) and Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) had respective third-place showings in the 100-breast (1:16.80) and 200-free (2:00.26). Sophomore Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, after clocking a 1:01.51. Fellow sophomore Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) was fourth (1:17.24), as well, in the 100-breast.

LIU Post's two relay squads bested their opposition at the meet. The group of Jones, Johnstone, Kwok and Brazier raced to a first-place 1:48.24 in the 200-yard medley relay. Then, in the 800-free relay, Johnstone, Swensen, Fuller and senior Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) teamed up to swim a winning time of 8:05.44.

Head Coach Michael Travers and the Pioneers return to action on Friday, Feb. 19, when they defend their title at the Metropolitan Conference Championships, hosted at Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J.
