Delaney Named ECC Player of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 21, 2016) - On Monday night, LIU Post women's lacrosse senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) was crowned as the East Coast Conference Player of the Week.

It is just the first time in her collegiate career that Delaney has earned weekly honors from the league office. She was dubbed the ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in February.

Delaney spearheaded the Pioneer offense last week, amassing 17 points (7 G, 10 A) in a pair of road games. She led all players with an eight-point showing (3 G, 5 A) in a 17-5 win over Philadelphia University (Mar. 16), before scoring a career-high-tying nine points (4 G, 5 A) in an 18-4 victory at Roberts Wesleyan College (Mar. 19).

Through six contests, Delaney currently ranks in the Top-10 in the nation and leads the ECC in points (38), points per game (6.33), assists (25) and assists per game (4.16).

Delaney and the Pioneers are back in action Wednesday (Mar. 23), when they host ECC rival Molloy College for a 3:30 p.m. opening draw at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.
