BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 23, 2016) - On Wednesday, the No. 4/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team earned its fifth-straight win, knocking off Molloy College, 16-6, in East Coast Conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The Pioneers (6-1, 2-0 ECC) got out to a strong start, tallying four unanswered goals in the first seven minutes. Junior attacker
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), who notched a game-high five goals on the afternoon, found the back of the cage on an unassisted effort at the 23-minute mark to cap off the run.
Molloy (6-3, 2-1 ECC) then cut the deficit to 4-2 more than midway through the half, before LIU Post rattled off a five-goal outburst in a six-plus minute span to widen the gap to 9-2 with 3:24 left.

Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and Vagelatos netted two goals apiece in the spurt. Senior defender/midfielder
Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) added a marker, as well.
In the second half, the Pioneers, who held a 9-3 lead at the intermission, extended its advantage to double digits (15-5). Senior attacker
Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) and junior defender/midfielder
Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) combined for three goals in the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.
In addition to Vagelatos' five-goal performance, Delaney (3 G, 2 A) and Bird (4 G, 1 A) each amassed five points. Roche won a game-high eight draw controls and caused one turnover.
Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender
Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made seven saves. She also scooped up four ground balls and forced two turnovers.
For the game, the Pioneers outshot the Lions, 33-19, and held a 13-10 edge in draws. Additionally, LIU Post, which converted 4-of-8 free-position attempts, collected 20 ground balls to Molloy's 11.

Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back at it Saturday (Mar. 26), when they head to Philadelphia, Pa. to face Holy Family University in a non-conference tilt at 1 p.m.
