No. 5 Women's Lacrosse Edged By No. 2 Le Moyne, 7-5
Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 5, 2016) - In a Top-5 nationally-ranked showdown, the No. 5/9 LIU Post women's lacrosse team lost to second-ranked Le Moyne College by a score of 7-5 on Saturday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Trailing 4-0 late in the first half, junior defender/midfielder
Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) got the Pioneers (1-1) on the board with 8:44 remaining, making it a three-goal game at the break.
During the second half, the Dolphins (2-0) regained their four-goal advantage (6-2) nearly five minutes in, before LIU Post started to mount a comeback.
Senior attacker
Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) and junior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) scored less than a minute apart to close the gap to 6-4 at the 16:35 mark.
The green and gold never got any closer though, as Le Moyne held LIU Post to just two shots on goal for the remainder of the contest.

Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) collected two draws, two ground balls and one caused turnover. Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender
Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made a game-best seven saves.
For the game, the Pioneers owned a 12-9 edge in ground balls, and were successful on 13-of-16 (81.2 percent) clear attempts.
