BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 8, 2016) - On Tuesday, the No. 5/9 LIU Post women's lacrosse team routed Assumption College, 15-2, in a non-conference showdown at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The Pioneers (2-1) outscored the Greyhounds (1-2) by a 9-0 count in the opening half, and eventually led 13-0 six-plus minutes into the latter stanza.
Senior attacker
Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) had a game-high six points (1 G, 5 A) and earned two draws in the win. Junior attackers
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) tallied five points apiece. Bird also scooped up four draw controls and three ground balls, while causing one turnover.
Senior defender/midfielder
Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) each notched two goals and an assist. Between the pipes, sophomore goalie
Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made two saves in 58:04 of work.
LIU Post dominated Assumption in shots by a near 4-to-1 margin (25-7). The Pioneers, who were 11-of-13 on clears, also held a 15-8 edge in ground balls and a 15-4 advantage in draws.
