Women's Tennis Opens Spring Season With 7-2 Loss to Adelphi

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2016) - Despite winning the first two singles flights, the LIU Post women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Adelphi University in non-conference action Wednesday at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.
Freshman
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set victory against Elizabeth Kallenberg (Port Washington, N.Y.) in first singles, improving her team-best record to 9-2.
Then, at No. 2 singles, senior
Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) earned a hard-fought 6-4 win over Stefani Lineva (Middle Village, N.Y.).
In the third-singles position, senior
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) came up short in a 6-2 setback versus Karen Serina (East Islip, N.Y.).
During doubles play, the No. 1 pair of Fatchikova and Chrastecka lost a close 8-6 match to Lineva and Serina. Arthur and junior
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) fell 8-2 to Kallenberg and Samantha Perri (Floral Park, N.Y.) in the second flight.
