GRAND LAKE, Colo. (May 13, 2016) - On Friday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team had seven players named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II All-North Region Team.

Senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.), senior defender/midfielder Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.), senior defender Brittany Smith (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and sophomore cageminder Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) represented the Pioneers on the IWLCA All-Region First Team.

Delaney, who garnered East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors, repeats on the IWLCA All-North Region First Team. She paces the league in assists (44) and points (97) and ranks in the Top-10 in Division II in both categories. Furthermore, Delaney was recognized as the ECC Player of the Week three times and added to the watch list for the Tewaaraton Award, which is presented to the top collegiate lacrosse player in the nation.

Making their first appearances as All-Region selections, Roche and Smith have helped to lead a defense that has limited the opposition to the fewest goals allowed per game (4.25) in the country. Roche has also scored 24 goals and allocated 14 assists for a career-high 38 points, while Smith, the ECC Defensive Player of the Year, has scooped up 21 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers in 20 games.

Kirk, the 2016 ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, owns the top save percentage (.587) and the second-lowest goals-against average (4.42) in Division II. Additionally, her 17 wins are tops in the conference and 81 goals allowed are the second-fewest amongst the league's goaltenders.

Junior attacker Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and junior defender/midfielder Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) landed spots on the IWLCA All-North Region Second Team.

Bird, a two-time IWLCA All-Region second-team honoree, places sixth in the ECC in scoring with 59 points (40 G, 19 A). Her 58 draw controls rank in the Top-10 in the conference, as well. Douglas has forced the most turnovers (45) in the league this season and won the second-most ground balls (49) in the process.

Lastly, freshman midfielder Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) earned a nod to the IWLCA All-North Region Third Team. In her rookie campaign, McKinney has tallied 37 goals and nine assists for 46 points. She has registered at least one point in each of her last five games.
