BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2016) - The LIU Post women's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit Wednesday in a 3-2 overtime victory against Wilmington University in non-conference action at Pioneer Soccer Park.

Trailing 2-0 in the latter 45-minute session, the Pioneers (4-2-1) cut the differential in half just 3:36 into the period on Sarah McGarry's (Islip, N.Y.) first goal of 2016. She finished a shot into the top-right corner of the net, closing the gap to a one-goal game.

Minutes later, LIU Post capitalized on its momentum to even the score. Just seconds after Medina Mulic (Ridgewood, N.Y.) rang a shot off the post, sophomore back/midfielder Alice Schonfeldt (Burtrask, Sweden) found the back of the mesh to tie the contest at 2-all at the 34:07 mark.

In the final minute, the Pioneers challenged Wilmington (4-2) junior keeper Kierstyn Williams (Middletown, Del.) with a pair of shots on goal. However, Williams stopped both attempts to force overtime.

Mulic, who clanged an earlier shot off the pipe, got redemption in extra time. Less than three minutes into the first overtime period, she played a ball towards the far post from 35 yards out that tickled the twine for the game-winner.

LIU Post outshot Wilmington by a 3-to-1 margin (21-7) in the match. It also earned six corner kicks to the Wildcats' one.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) made four saves in the win for the Pioneers. Williams stopped eight shots for Wilmington.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and his LIU Post squad return to the pitch Saturday (Sept. 24), when they host non-conference foe Merrimack College at noon at Pioneer Soccer Park.
