Field Hockey Ranked No. 5 in Latest NFCHA Division II Coaches Poll

PENN MONTO/NFHCA DIVISION II COACHES POLL - OCT. 17

 Gilbert, Ariz. – The LIU Post field hockey team was ranked fifth in the most recent Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Coaches Poll revealed on Tuesday.

The Pioneers (12-2) are riding a five-game winning streak and is currently third in the conference with a 7-2 record.

LIU Post moves to fifth despite posting a 2-0 week where the Pioneers defeated NE-10 rival Southern Connecticut State University 11-1, before defeating Merrimack 6-1. The Pioneers are currently second in the nation in points-per-game (12.15) and are third in goals-per-game (4.31).

Leading the third-ranked Pioneers is Emily Miller, who leads the team in both goals (28) and points (61), is currently ranked second in the nation in points-per-game (4.15) and goals-per-game (1.92). The two-time NE-10 Player of the Week is supported by teammate Kaycee Zelkovsky who has contributed to 26 points of the year (9 goals, 8 assists) and freshman Sammy Bell who has slotted eight goals and tallied nine assists on the year.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the LIU Post field hockey team return to action on Thursday, October 19 when they travel to face NE-10 rivals Adelphi University at 4 p.m.
