BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior Julie Gysels tallied five points to led the LIU Post field hockey team past American International College (AIC), 6-0, on Monday evening at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
 
The Pioneers (14-2, 8-3 NE-10) overwhelmed AIC (2-15, 2-10 NE-10) offensively, taking 26 shots and limiting the Yellow Jackets to three. Additionally, the hosts were awarded 10 penalty corners compared to AIC's two.
 
Emily Miller opened the scoring as she finished a feed from Gysels in the first two minutes of action. In the 13th minute, Gysels doubled the lead on a pass from Kaycee Zelkovsky. A minute later Zelkovsky converted on a penalty stroke opportunity before a Sammy Bell goal to close out the first half with a 4-0 lead.
 
The Pioneers continued to press the Yellow Jackets' defense and broke through for the fifth tally of the game when Gysels doubled her goal total in the 38th minute. Miller rounded out the scoring for LIU Post with her second goal of the evening to seal the 6-0 win.
 
Gysels (2g, 1a) and Miller (2 g) led the way offensively with five and four points, respectively. Additionally, Zelkovsky contributed with four-points tallying a goal and two assists.
