Manchester, N.H. - The LIU Post football team completed the regular season with a five-game win streak after taking down the Saint Anselm Hawks, 45-7, on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Pioneers improve to 8-2 on the season, including a 7-2 record in conference play, as Saint Anselm falls to 1-9 (1-9 NE10).
As a unit, the Pioneers offense amassed 504 yards of total offense against the Hawks, Michael Richardson accounted for LIU Post's two touchdowns. In comparison, the Pioneers defense held the Hawks to just 46 passing yards.
Malik Pierre finished his day with 168 rushing yards, while Yianni Gavalas rushed for 23 yards.
The Pioneers held the Hawks to 175 yards of total offense, including 129 rushing yards. Jake Carlock led the Pioneer defense with eight tackles, Conner Farrell added seven tackles, while
Anthony DeNunzio contributed with five tackles including a sack.
The opening score of the game came on LIU Post's opening drive, the Pioneers six-play, 36-yard drive resulted in a field goal that saw them go up 3-0.
In LIU Post's first possession of the second quarter Gavalas completed a pass to Pierre who scored the side's first touchdown to give the Pioneers a 10-0 lead. LIU Post continued to score on its next drive with a one-yard rush by Gavalas to extend the guest's lead 17-0 at the half.
The green and gold picked up right where it left off in the second half, as Nazir Streater opened the half with a 99-yard kick-off return touchdown to help the Pioneers go up 24-0.
After forcing the Hawks to punt, the Pioneers rushed for another touchdown, this time it was Tim Marinan who rushed for his second touchdown of the season.
Saint Anselm were finally able to get on the board after a seven-yard touchdown pass with less than two minutes left to play in the third.
The Pioneers continued to score on their next two drives in the fourth courtesy of Gavalas' touchdown passes both of which found Michael Richardson, as LIU Post cruised to a 45-7 victory.
