Melville, NY| The LIU Post equestrian team finished back on top this weekend with a win at the 41st Horse Show at the Thomas School of Horsemanship, hosted by Molloy College.
The Pioneers' Cara Sappelsa finished the day tied for high point rider and qualified for regionals in novice fences after winning both her fences class her flat class in her first week in the new division. Nicole Sinram qualified after her second place finish in the novice flat class.
Qing Wang secured the win for the team in her walk trot class with Katilyn Seidl close behind in third. Alexandra Blach and Alyssa Rehm had a successful first time in novice having never jumped at a horse show before. Blach placed second on the flat and fifth over fences and Rehm placed second over fences and fifth on the flat. Hedda Walltott secured the first place victory in her novice flat class as well.
Our intermediate riders dominated the competition placing top-three in every intermediate section. On the flat, Jenna Skaferowsky and Cara Sappelsa took the top finishes. Chloe Hoerner, Ava Greenbaum, Mackenzie Ashe placed second. Katie Galvin, Patricia Hession and Nicolette Signorelli took home third. The jumping section was just as successful with Sappelsa, Hession and Alex Daskam taking first. Skaferowsky, Ashe, Nicole Palmer and Monica Moscoso took home second while Katie Galvin placed third, respectively.
After a competitive open jumping class, Jessica Sulkers took home second place, with Mallory Slack right behind in third. Slack also placed second on the flat, with Sulkers placing third.
The Pioneers compete again this weekend at the NYU hosted show which will be the second-last show of the season before their home hosted show November 12th.
