Equestrian Earns High Point Team in Fall Season Finale

Brookville, NY| The LIU Post equestrian team finished the season strong at their home-hosted show on Sunday at the equestrian center on campus of LIU Post.  
 
The team finished with high point team, and they now close their fall season leading the region with 219 points. Hedda Walltott finished the day as high point rider, and Mallory Slack reserve high point rider after the teammates won both their respective classes. The team also had four riders qualify individually for regionals. Nicolette Signorelli earned a spot at regionals after her second-place finish in novice fences. Qing Wang qualified in walk/trot after winning her class and concluded her undergraduate career as she graduates this semester. Jessica Sulkers and Slack both earned spots too. The team collectively earned 13 place finishes throughout the day.
 
Ava Greenbaum started the day with a second-place finish in open jumping and later finished 1st in her flat class. Jessica Sulkers also finished 1st in open flat. Jenna Skaferowsky and Patricia Hession secured first place finishes in intermediate fences. Cara Sappelsa and Mackenzie Ashe secured third place finishes. The team dominated in intermediate flat, Ashe earning second alongside Nicole Palmer. Alex Daskam also earned a third place finish.
 
Novice fences stayed strong with Nicole Sinram bringing home the win with Gianna Perry and Alyssa Rehm earning second. Perry also earned second on the flat right behind Angela Sikes placing first. Alexandra Blach and Ashton Guilfoile also secured a second-place finish. Danielle Testagrose brought home the win in walk/trot/canter.
 
The team overall displayed a strong showing with great demonstration of team work as they worked together to host the competition. The team wraps up the fall season, and continues to practice to gear up for the second half of the season in the spring with hopes of continuing their region lead.
