WATERBURY, Conn. (Apr. 19, 2017) - The LIU Post men's lacrosse team continued its four-game road trip Wednesday with an 11-10 loss at Post University in non-conference action at LaMoy Field.
Despite the result, the Pioneers (5-7) dominated the stat sheet in the contest, outshooting the Eagles (5-6) by a 47-27 count and winning 20-of-23 (86.9 percent) faceoffs.
Trailing 6-2 just over midway through the second quarter, the green and gold tallied three of the final four goals of the half to cut the deficit to 7-5 at the break.
Junior midfielder 
Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.) notched a pair of goals in the run, including a man-up tally. Freshman midfielder 
Dan Foley (Carmel, N.Y.) dished out a pair of assists.
In the third quarter, Post quickly re-claimed its four-goal advantage (9-5), after back-to-back goals by Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) in the opening 1:36.
The Pioneers rallied though and closed the gap to an 11-10 game in the final seconds, but that was as close as the visitors came to fulfilling a comeback.
Harned finished with a game-high four goals. Freshman attackman 
Austin Guerrina (Weston, Fla.) totaled three goals and two ground balls. Foley had a goal and three assists for a four-point day.
Junior attackman 
Chris Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) registered two assists and scooped up three ground balls. Sophomore attackman/midfielder 
Frank Ranfone (Guilford, Conn.) and sophomore midfielder 
Michael Licata (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each added a goal.
Sophomore midfielder 
Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) was a near-perfect 12-of-13 on draws, while senior midfielder 
Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) won 8-of-10 (80.0 percent) faceoffs.
Between the pipes, senior goalie 
Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore cageminder 
Bryan Ochs (Syosset, N.Y.) combined to make 10 saves for LIU Post. Red-shirt senior goaltender Shane Trost (Rochester, N.Y.) stopped an impressive 27 shots for Post.
