WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 22, 2017) - Junior attackman Chris Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) tallied the game-winning goal with 1:38 left in overtime Saturday to propel the LIU Post men's lacrosse team to a 16-15 victory over University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference showdown at UDC Field.

Trasacco, who finished with six points (2 G, 4 A) in the contest, scored his first game-winner of 2017 in the victory.

Trailing 9-8 in the third quarter, the Pioneers (6-7, 3-3 ECC) went off for six unanswered goals in a span of 5:06 to grab a 14-9 lead at the 6:36 mark.

Junior midfielder Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.) bookended the run with even-strength tallies. Sophomore midfielder Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) added his first collegiate tally, while Trasacco dished out a pair of assists.

However, the Firebirds (4-7, 2-5 ECC) responded with a five-goal burst of their own and eventually forced overtime with a man-up goal by LaRon Hinton (Woodbridge, Va.) with 33 seconds left in regulation.

Harned and freshman midfielder Austin Guerrina (Longwood, Fla.) each registered a game-high-tying seven points in the win. Sophomore midfielder Michael Licata (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) pitched in two goals. Freshman midfielder Nick Grassa (North Babylon, N.Y.) allocated a pair of assists.

Farrell and senior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) both won an impressive 12-of-17 (70.5 percent) faceoffs. Farrell also scooped up a game-best 10 ground balls.

Between the pipes, senior goaltender Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) made six saves for LIU Post. Sophomore cageminder Nikolas Lund-Murray (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada) turned aside 12 shots for UDC.

As a team, the Pioneers were 24-of-34 (70.5 percent) on faceoffs, 12-of-15 (80.0 percent) on clears and 2-of-3 (66.7 percent) on extra-man opportunities in the contest.

Head Coach John Jez and his LIU Post squad return to action Wednesday (Apr. 26), when they face St. Thomas Aquinas College in an ECC clash at 3:30 p.m. in Sparkill.
