MANCHESTER, N.H. (May 18, 2017) - Junior outfielder Rob Andreoli (North Wantagh, N.Y.) drilled a go-ahead three-run homer in the third inning Thursday to propel the fourth-seeded LIU Post baseball team to a 4-2 win versus No. 5 seed Felician University at the 2017 NCAA Division II East Region Championship at Penmen Field in Manchester.

The victory moves the Pioneers (31-18) into the winner's bracket, where they will face sixth-ranked and No. 1 seed Southern New Hampshire on Friday (May 19) at 3 p.m.

Tied 1-1 in the third, junior shortstop Joe Spitaleri (Levittown, N.Y.) led off the frame with an infield single and senior outfielder Kenny Daley (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) followed with an eight-pitch walk to put a pair of runners on for Andreoli.

Andreoli then took the first pitch he saw from Felician (33-14) junior pitcher Rob Naughton (Levittown, N.Y.) out to right field to give LIU Post a 4-1 lead.

Senior pitcher Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.) tossed his team-leading sixth complete game of 2017 in the win. He allowed seven hits, two runs and one walk and fanned eight in the process.

In the ninth, the Golden Falcons got a run off the right-hander to cut the deficit to 4-2, but DeCarli induced a groundout with the bases clear to end the game.

Seven different players registered a hit for the Pioneers in the contest. Spitaleri had a pair of hits and earned a walk. Daley went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored.
